The Montessori Method

A proven approach to early childhood education

Dr. Maria Montessori

Dr. Maria Montessori
1870 - 1952

Maria Montessori, Doctor and Educator, was born in Italy in 1870. She believed the senses were important to learning and development and created specialized equipment to enhance this.

Maria believed that education began at birth and that children are by nature eager learners. Her aim was to harness this natural ability to learn by presenting concrete experiences and materials to help children understand abstract principles.

She believed children learn through:

  • Movement, particularly of the hand, linked to the development of intelligence
  • An environment designed to meet their needs
  • Hands-on sensory experiences

Our Classroom Approach: The classroom is designed to meet children's needs when they are most interested and motivated. We provide a secure and happy environment where children feel valued as they explore and grow.

About Right Start Montessori

Our commitment to excellence in early years education

Our Approach

All children are eager to learn and gain understanding of their world. The children are encouraged to work at their own pace to fulfil their own needs.

We are committed to helping children develop their self-confidence and appreciation of others. The children are encouraged to develop listening skills, where time is taken to listen to the children both in group settings and a one to one basis.

It is important that parents and the school work together in the interest of the child. We therefore encourage comments and suggestions from the parents and discussions with them.

Our Vision

Our aim is to create a happy, nurturing, learning environment where children are individually challenged to reach their true potential. Where parents and carers are supported and their views are valued and respected.

Our Parent's Vision

For the nursery to be: a diverse nurturing and inclusive environment that is safe indoors and outside. One whose core values consist in protecting wildlife and the living planet and promote sustainable living locally.
